Sim Racing Terms, Explained

A quick glossary for anyone specifying parts

Shorthand we use throughout this page, in case you're new to the category or briefing someone who is.

Button Box

An external control panel with buttons, switches and encoders, usually mounted beside the wheel, housing a PCB behind a machined or carbon fiber faceplate.

Wheel Faceplate

The front panel of a steering wheel that carries the branding and mounting points for buttons, paddles and displays — commonly carbon fiber or machined aluminum.

Quick Release

The hub connector that lets a wheel be swapped on and off a wheelbase in seconds, typically a machined aluminum assembly on a bolt pattern.

DDU

Dashboard Display Unit — a small screen mounted on or near the wheel showing live telemetry such as gear, speed and lap delta, usually behind a cover glass.

Do you manufacture steering wheel components for sim racing?

Can you CNC machine aluminum buttons and knobs for sim racing hardware?

Yes. We machine aluminum buttons, rotary knobs and enclosures in-house, with anodizing available to match your brand colors.

Do you support small-batch orders for boutique sim racing brands?

Yes. There is no minimum order quantity. We work with independent workshops and small brands on prototype and low-volume orders, as well as larger OEM production runs.

Can you match anodized colors to our brand?

Yes. Custom anodized colors and other finishes are available so hardware matches your brand's visual identity across every batch.

Can you manufacture pedal housings or motion rig structural parts?

This is not yet a standard product line for us, but CNC and sheet metal structural components for pedal housings and motion rig frames can be produced from your drawings on request.
